Azriel, DOB: 9.11.24
Meet Azriel aka Az - a bashful little guy that looks like a pint-sized panther and is all about belly rubs and long, cozy naps. Azriel had a rough start in life. Apartment residents reported a lone kitten crying outside their windows at night, and it took weeks to catch him. Scared and sick, he needed antibiotics for an upper respiratory infection and a swollen belly likely from parasites and an inconsistent diet. Once recovered, Azriel was reunited with his sister Feyre, who helps him build confidence with her playful antics. Although he’s not the most confident kitten, toys and FOOD (his favorite!) are great motivators to lure him out of his hidey-holes.
He adores belly rubs and will happily spend hours cuddled up by your side. With his calm demeanor and love of snuggles, Az would make a wonderful emotional support animal for a gentle, patient adopter who can give him the time and love he needs to thrive.
Azriel is a modest little man, so we recommend keeping a covered litter box nearby until he settles into his new home. Because of his shy and reclusive nature, Azriel would do best in a quieter home without small children. He thrives in a calm environment where he can feel safe and loved. He’s happy to share sofa and lap space with the dog in the foster home, as long as the pup remains calm. Azriel would really love to be adopted with his sister Feyre as she is the bold one in the duo and helps encourage Az to join in on her silly adventures.
Azriel is a special needs boy. He has been diagnosed with feline Rickets, a rare metabolic bone disease in kittens caused by a deficiency of vitamin D3 or phosphorus, or genetic defects affecting vitamin D3 or phosphorus metabolism, leading to skeletal abnormalities and hypocalcemia. This has caused Azriels legs to be short and stubby and his joint growth to be abnormal. He is currently on a daily medication to help with these vitamin deficiencies that he will need to remain on at least until adulthood or until his vet determines differently. The cost of the medication is relatively inexpensive, about $30 a month. He will need to remain under the care of his veterinarian or your own veterinarian for regular check ins while Azriel navigates this medical journey. Despite not being able to jump very high because of his miniature legs Azriels remains and happy, normal kitty and we hope to find the purrfect home for him and his sister Feyre.
